Conceived as the Aerie, a great bird’s nest perched upon the edge of a canyon. Entering through the courtyard grotto presents the residence as one would view from beneath a waterfall staring up to the canopies hovering above. The bridge supports center the historic stained glass of the church as backdrop to a dynamic lobby porch.
Ascent brings awareness of carefully considered views. Using drone footage, each living room window faces chosen skyline landmarks and angled facades oriented to the suns path in the sky provide brightly lit apartments carefully tuned to avoid harsh eastern and western exposures. Breathe deeply of the fresh and highly filtered air delivered to each apartment by a central system. Enjoy the view of the train far below slip silently by due to the carefully designed acoustical exterior walls and windows.
Outdoor spaces cascade around the residences from breathtaking views at the peak, down to the urban terrace with grilling and party spaces, and across the bridge to a large private garden nestled beneath the trellis of the old church roof, restored to it’s prior form and imagined as an urban relic, a vine covered ruin in the sky. A continuous and connected procession of distinct outdoor spaces presents residents with a cityscape all their own, connected yet separate. Sacred & profane. Contemplative & engaging. Experiences of health, wellness, and spirit surround and surprise at each turn.
